Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death Movie Heads to U.S. Theaters This July

The long-awaited compilation film Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie is officially set to release in theaters throughout North America on July 16, 2025. The release will be managed by film distributor GKIDS. A new poster and trailer have also been released to advertise the release.

This movie encapsulates the narrative of the "Hidden Inventory" and "Premature Death" arcs of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series. It's a prequel to the said main series that has already premiered on Crunchyroll for online streaming.

Getting a Glimpse at Two Legendary Characters' Past

Adapted from Gege Akutami’s supernatural action manga, the film explores the early days of two major characters—Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto. Long before becoming adversaries, they were close friends and classmates at Tokyo Jujutsu High.

Their task is to protect Riko Amanai, a girl who has been selected to be the Star Plasma Vessel. She needs to live long enough to fulfill her spiritual mission. Her life, however, is hunted by a mysterious cult and renegade users of curses. Gojo and Geto are not only required to fight their foes but also to bear the emotional and ethical burden of their mission. 

MAPPA Returns for Animation, Toho Produces

Once again, the animation is taken care of by production studio MAPPA, which boasts high-energy action and dramatic combat choreography. Production is by Toho. 

With action-packed drama and rich character background, the film delivers important back story for longstanding fans and first-timers as well. The origins of Gojo and Geto's deep, complicated friendship are explored here, and longtime fans get an inside glimpse of the decisions that forged their destiny.
