Tougen Anki Anime Sets Global Debut Schedule Ahead of July 11 TV Premiere
Tougen Anki anime premieres July 11 with global debuts and BAND-MAID ending theme.

The anime television series adaptation of Tougen Anki, which is place on Yura Urushibara's manga, is officially set to premiere on Japanese television on July 11, 2025. Before its TV debut, the series will be released through a series of early screening events in Asia and North America.
Global Premieres Set the Stage for Anticipated Debut
World premiere of the anime will be held on June 7 at AFA Indonesia. Early showing of the first three episodes will be presented to Japanese audiences as a special screening at United Cinemas Toyosu on June 21. U.S. audiences can watch the premiere at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles. All these come with the inclusion of guest appearances by the production staff or voice actors.
Published by Akita Shoten and released by Weekly Shonen Champion, Tougen Anki is a tale of a world shaped by a struggle of two extremely ancient bloodlines — Momotaro and Oni. Published by Yen Press is the English version of the manga titled Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood.
Dark Folklore Meets Modern Action in New Anime
The anime is produced by Studio Hibari with Ato Nonaka directing. Hiroyuki Hashimoto is the assistant director. Yukie Sugawara does series composition and scripts. Ryoko Amisaki designs the characters, Scott MacDonald handles the art direction, and KOHTA YAMAMOTO handles music composition.
The story revolves around Shiki Ichinose, a high school student who discovers his Oni lineage after being ambushed unexpectedly by Momotaro forces. This attack thrusts him into a centuries-long battle, unleashing supernatural abilities associated with his lineage. The narrative of Shiki takes place as he grapples with the secret power inside him and enters a world dominated by centuries-old rivalries.
In line with the popularity of the anime, Japanese rock band BAND-MAID will be offering the ending theme, titled What is justice?
With its blend of dark fantasy, coming-of-age themes, and new take on classic folklore, Tougen Anki aims to capture the attention of action and supernatural drama enthusiasts in equal proportions.
