New Fist of the North Star Anime Announced for 2026 With Trailer Release

Kenshiro returns in the 2026 anime adaptation of Fist of the North Star, with fresh animation, updated designs, and new voices for a new era
A fresh anime version of Fist of the North Star is on the way. The trailer, it was launched today and gave viewers some short scenes of what’s coming. At the same time, they also shared new visual art for Bat and Rin characters. Alongside that, the voices for the main cast got announced as well.
Kenshiro is now going to be voiced by Shunsuke Takeuchi. Meanwhile, Daiki Yamashita will do Bat and Rin’s voice will be done by M・A・O. It's a different cast than before, which can be surprising for long-time fans, but change sometimes bring new charm. Not everyone may agree though.
From 1980s Pages to New Animation
Originally, this manga came out from 1983 to 1988 in Weekly Shonen Jump. Buronson did the story part and Tetsuo Hara was the illustrator. The manga became very famous and was collected in 27 volumes. Even now, it still continues to reach readers through English versions from VIZ Media.
Over the years, the story wasn’t limited to manga only. There have been many anime versions, some video games, one live-action movie in 1995 where Gary Daniels played Kenshiro, and even a stage musical. So it’s not new for this franchise to return in different forms.
Wastelands, Fists, and One Man’s Promise
The story happens after a big nuclear disaster has destroyed the world. Oceans disappeared, land was ruined, and few people left are trying to survive. Violence is the only rule now. In that world, one man, Kenshiro, walks with seven scars on his chest. He is an expert in Hokuto Shinken, a secret and dangerous fighting style.

His goal is to find Shin, who had taken his fiancée Yuria. But on the way, he sees many people suffering. So, he doesn’t just fight for his own reasons. He becomes a savior for people who can’t protect themselves.
So now fans wait for 2026, when this new version will come. It could be something bold, or maybe not. But surely, it will be a return that gets people talking.
