The MONOGATARI Series OFF & MONSTER Season anime has been announced with a teaser visual, continuing the story with new arcs and returning staff in 2025
On July 3, it was finally announced — a new Monogatari anime is coming, and it’s called MONOGATARI Series OFF & MONSTER Season. Along with this, a new teaser image came out too, just showing the logo but still enough to get people talking. This is going to be another entry in the MONOGATARI timeline, which’s been going on for years now.
Last year, in 2024, the MONOGATARI anime returned for a short time. It aired 14 episodes between July to October, and had a lot of content packed in. The season was based on Orokamonogatari, Nademonogatari, and Wazamonogatari, and also touched on Shinobumonogatari a bit — which belongs to the Monster Season. That one explored more stories from the characters Araragi met before, after his main journey was kind of done already.
Who's Behind It
This new anime again made by Studio SHAFT, the ones who always made MONOGATARI look very special. Lot of staff is back too:
- Chief Director: Akiyuki Shinbo
- Director: Midori Yoshizawa
- Series Composition: Akiyuki Shinbo and Tou Fuyashi
- Character Design/Chief Animation: Akio Watanabe
- Other Animation Directors: Kana Miyai, Nobuhiro Sugiyama, Hiroki Yamamura
- Music: Kei Haneoka, Satoru Kosaki, and Yuria Miyazono
With them returning, fans probably expect something similar to past seasons, even if the story now goes a bit different way.
Story's Not Over Yet
Araragi may not be the lead anymore, but that don't mean everything's finished. The new story will focus more on the girls he helped before. Their problems have not really ended yet, and more supernatural stuff seems to come back. The arcs will show us what happens to them next, going from past memories to future troubles.

The MONOGATARI anime is still based on the light novels by Nisio Isin, which have been released since 2006. By May 2023, there were 29 volumes, and Kodansha still publishes them. The books were also brought to English by Kodansha USA. Crunchyroll continues to stream the anime too, so international fans won’t miss out.
This upcoming anime could be a big one again. New visuals, old team, and more characters getting the spotlight. MONOGATARI never really feels done — and this just shows there's still stories left to tell.
