A Quick Recap of Dandadan Season 1 Before You Start Season 2

Get ready for Dandadan Season 2 with this quick recap of key events, characters, and cliffhangers from Season 1 to refresh your memory before it airs

Dandadan Season 2 is just a day away, following its first season that aired in Fall 2024. That’s less than a year later. Studio Science SARU is still in charge of the animation, which looked great last time, so we can expect more of that cool stuff. The first season made a lot of noise with its strange mix of everything — action, high school drama, ghosts, comedy, and all that. And well, people loved it.

Even though Season 1 had just 12 episodes, it really crammed a lot in. From the first episode, the energy was up, and it never really calmed down. The story had crazy fights, strange powers, and even a bit of romance. And then it ended in a way that made everyone go, “Okay, we need Season 2 now.”

More Fights, More Feelings, and a Lot More Weird Stuff in Dandadan Season 2

The two main characters are still Momo and Ken, or Okarun, whatever you prefer to call him. Both of them have supernatural powers now. Momo used her psychic stuff to escape alien control, and Ken — well, he kind of merged with a ghost grandma called Turbo Granny. Sounds weird, but it works somehow. They’ve been fighting all kinds of things, from alien shrimp warriors to crab monsters to sad ghosts like Acrobatic Silky.

After that last fight, they got a new teammate — Aira. At first, she was just a typical, proud girl with an attitude. But later, she turned out to have more heart than you’d think. Her mom became that creepy ghost, Silky, and when it ended, Aira ended up getting her powers. Now she’s also kind of half-spirit, like Ken. There's even a chance she’s got some feelings for him. But wait — things got more complicated when Momo’s old friend Jiji showed up. He’s the sweet, easygoing type, but there’s history between him and Momo, and Ken doesn't like that one bit.

It all ended with them finding a creepy room full of talismans, and Momo suddenly trapped alone in a bathhouse. Not the most relaxing cliffhanger. So yeah, fans are curious what happens next.

Can Dandadan Compete With the Big Names This Season?

Summer 2025 is packed. You got My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, and even Sakamoto Days all airing around the same time. That’s a lot of noise. But Dandadan still might manage to stand out. Why? Because it’s just different. It doesn’t try to be super serious all the time. It’s got that chaotic, fun vibe — sometimes hilarious, sometimes touching, sometimes just nuts.

While other anime are all about saving the world or training montages, Dandadan makes room for ghostly dance-offs, alien kidnappings, and weird anatomy models fighting teenagers. But then it also drops kinda emotional moments, like when Aira dealt with her mom. That balance makes the show feel fresh. Even if it jokes around a lot, it never forgets to give its characters depth.

Where to Catch Season 2

Season 2 starts on July 3. You can watch it on Netflix, Crunchyroll, or Hulu — pretty much wherever you like. All of them are picking it up. If you want to get ahead of the story or just want more details, the manga is also out and worth checking out. It’s got even more madness, and it’s a good way to see what might be coming next.

With everything coming this summer, it might be easy to miss something. But Dandadan probably won’t be that show. It’s loud, it’s fast, and it’s not afraid to be strange. That’s exactly why people love it. And if Season 2 is anything like the first one — or wilder — then fans are in for a very good time.
