Ranma ½ Season 2 arrives in October 2025 with new cast members, a first trailer reveal, and MAPPA once again handling the animation for the sequel

Ranma ½ is coming back again. The second season already got its first trailer, which showed new scenes and also gave us some of the new voice actors. It also announced that the release date will be October 2025. Just like before, Studio MAPPA is doing the animation. They are continuing the work from where Season 1 ended.

Ranma ½ Anime New Voice Actors Join the Cast

Some new voice actors are joining now, like:

  • Toshihiko Seki is doing Mousse
  • Kaori Nazuka as Ukyo Kuonji
  • Kazuhiko Inoue is now playing Happosai
  • Mayama Ako will be the voice for Cologne
  • Akira Ishida is voicing Hikaru Gosunkugi

All of them can be heard in the trailer that was released. They will be added to the rest of the cast, which mostly comes back from the previous version of the anime.

Also, there are a few big cast replacements. For example, Soun Tendo will now be voiced by Akio Otsuka, replacing Ryusuke Obayashi. Cho is the new voice of Genma Saotome. The old voice of Genma, Kenichi Ogata, will now be the narrator. The original narrator, Tadashi Nakamura, passed away in 2019, that is why this change happened.

Animation Team Expands

Direction is now being handled by Konosuke Uda. The person who is doing the series composition is Kimiko Ueno. Character designs are being taken care of by Hiromi Taniguchi, and she is also one of the animation heads, along with Tsuyoshi Yoshioka, Yoshiko Saito, and Nao Otsu. Music remains with Kaoru Wada. Art direction is from Chihiro Okawa.

The manga of Ranma ½ was created by Rumiko Takahashi, who also did Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku before this. It first came out in 1987 and ran in Weekly Shonen Sunday till 1996. VIZ Media did the English version.

Before this reboot, there already was an anime adaptation made by Studio Deen. It was split into two series: Ranma ½ and Ranma ½ Nettohen. Those two together had 161 episodes from 1989 to 1992. Then, after that came 12 OVAs, three movies, and even a live-action show in 2011.

About The Story

The story is still of same as before. Ranma and his father, Genma, went for training and fell into a cursed spring. Now, when cold water touches Ranma, he turns into a girl. Genma turns into a panda. When warm water comes, they go back to normal. This strange curse makes life more complicated, especially since Ranma is meant to marry Akane, and she does not like him at first at all.

Ranma’s story isn’t just silly martial arts and strange curses. It’s also about how weird love and family can be. With MAPPA bringing this back and new voices joining, maybe this old series is finding fresh air again. Fans who waited long might enjoy it again, and even some new people might get into it.
