See You Tomorrow at the Food Court debuts July 7, bringing a fun, emotional story of two unlikely friends bonding daily over snacks, secrets, and school life
The anime See You Tomorrow at the Food Court just released a new trailer recently. This one gives more look at the characters and even the ending theme song. It’s called “Tonariawase,” and it’s sung by the lead voice actors—Hiyori Miyazaki and Yoshino Aoyama, who plays Wada and Yamamoto. The anime only got six episodes, and it’s all starting from July 7. Crunchyroll will stream it for people outside Japan too.
Both the opening and ending songs have already been previewed. The opening track is “Mikansei ni Matataite,” by the rock group Oisicle Melonpan. While it sounds upbeat, the ending feels more soft and personal. Both seems to match the story’s mood nicely, even if it's a bit unexpected.
Creators With Well-Known Names
There’s quite a few familiar people working on this. Director Kazuomi Koga, who worked on Rent-A-Girlfriend, is leading this. The story part is handled by Jukki Hanada from The Dangers in My Heart. Designs and animation checking is done by Kyuta Sakai, who’s been on Re:ZERO. Music comes from Kana Utatane. Studio Atelier Pontdarc is doing the animation—it’s the same one that made Uncle from Another World. So, the team does know how to have fun with feelings.
What’s Going On in the Story?
At school, everyone thinks Wada is the elegant rich girl, and Yamamoto’s kinda scary and always alone. But that’s not the full truth. Wada really loves playing mobile games and has a funny crush on a 2D character. Yamamoto, meanwhile, loves urban legends and follows one YouTuber like he’s a hero. The special thing is they meet at the food court every day after school to talk, complain, laugh, or just relax.
It’s friendship, but not the usual kind. They don’t fit together at first glance, but something about those talks over fast food makes it feel honest.
Only six episodes long, but it seems like this show is going to deliver a warm and real feeling. If you're into unusual friendships or girls just being themselves without drama, then this show might be right for you. July 7 ain’t far.
