CD Projekt says they’ll look to deliver the Witcher trilogy within six years from the release of the first instalment.

CD Projekt, the company behind Witcher and Cyberpunk, has just announced plans to develop at least six more games. The company has announced 4 Witcher games for the future as well as a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. There will also be a brand new IP from the studio. Codenames, as well as some details about these brand new games, were revealed during a sponsor’s call. When it comes to game announcements, it surely looks like a good time to be a Witcher or Cyberpunk 2077 fan. Here’s what the studio has in store for you in the coming years.

Before CD Projekt begins its development of these six new games, they’re currently occupied with completing the remaster of their iconic Witcher 3 game for next-gen consoles. That remaster is destined to release this year. Once that’s released, they’ll be looking to roll out Cyberpunk 2077’s first DLC named Phantom Liberty which will release in 2023. After that, CD Projekt will be focusing solely on Witcher, at least for three games in a row. It’s been reported that two of those Witcher games are already in pre-production.

CD Projekt Red CEO has just announced he's leaving his position as join-CEO and will now look to be the chairman of CD Projekt Red's supervisory board.

Project Sirius

Codenamed “Sirius”, the first of these games will be developed by The Molasses Flood, a studio based out of Boston which was acquired by CD Projekt Red. They’re known for developing the co-op survival game Drake Hollow. This game will be a Witcher spin-off separate from the new Witcher trilogy of games.

Project Polaris

“Polaris” will be the first Witcher game in the trilogy and it is also in pre-production. CD Projekt Red, the core development team in the company, will be in charge of delivering this trilogy. It will be a story-driven open-world RPG game. CD Projekt says they’ll look to deliver this trilogy within six years from the release of Polaris.

Canis Majoris

After “Polaris”, there will be a third-party Witcher game codenamed “Canis Majoris”. It was described as a “full-fledged” Witcher game and will be separate from the new Witcher trilogy. It will be a story-driven open-world RPG game with single-player functionality.

Project Orion

Cyberpunk 2077 has seen explosive growth, thanks to the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the Netflix anime set in the same universe. Project Orion will be the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and the company says it will “prove the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe”. The sequel will also be developed by CD Projekt Red.

Project Hadar

Apart from the well-established Witcher and Cyberpunk franchises, there’s now going to be a totally new IP from the company in the form of Project Hadar. It will be developed internally and is currently in its conceptual phase.
