BlueStacks Inc has just launched its “biggest update ever”, BlueStacks 5 Beta on the global stage. This update comes more than two years after the company released the 64-bit beta version of BlueStacks 4. Going back, the company launched version 4 all the way back in September 2018. The company claims that this new version comes with improvements and the speed and performance of the Android app player. It also completely rewrote the program to consume “significantly less memory” along with support for the ARM architecture. Lets’ check everything we know about BlueStacks 5 Beta here including how to access the new version.
BlueStacks 5 Beta out, everything we know
The new version comes with a “40% reduction in RAM usage” when compared with older versions. This version also comes with an internal code name called “Robusta”. Some of the new features that users can see in this version include “FPS lock”, “Long-flight”, “Eco-mode”, better “Multi-instance manager”, and more. The “FPS lock”, and “Long-flight” mode will ensure that the app platform can offer “smooth continuous gameplay” for an extended period of time. This is in line with the observation that an average BlueStacks user spends about five hours playing mobile games, every day. “Eco-mode”, and “Multi-instance manager” can ensure that gamers can quickly switch between gaming, browsing, and Discord.
Sharad Agarwal, the Chief Architect of BlueStacks 5 also issued a statement to outline the improvements in the new version. Agarwal stated, “Our app container technology enables games to be optimized to run on PC, Mac, and other devices without any additional work needed from the developer. This is a key component missing in both Android on Chromebook and iOS apps on Mac.” He also noted, “ARM devices have a big advantage over x86 devices for running Android Apps as they don’t need a binary translation. Our support for ARM reflects the work we have been doing for the last three years.”
In addition, the company also noted that BlueStacks has crossed about 1 billion downloads since the initial launch back in 2011. Interested players can head to the BlueStacks website to download and test drive the latest version for free. The new version is currently in Beta so one should be prepared to face any rare bugs. If you are running any critical apps on BlueStacks then we advise you to wait for the final version.
