Wuyang joins Overwatch 2 on August 26! Leaks reveal a complex support with orbs, mobility, and resource skills. Here’s everything we know so far.
Overwatch 2 Hero 44, Wuyang, has been making waves even before he officially joins the fight. Set to be released on August 26 during Season 18, Wuyang, also known by his codename “Aqua”, has already sparked a flood of hype all thanks to some intriguing leaks. We strongly believe that this new support hero might just bring one of the most complex yet refreshing playstyles to Overwatch 2 yet.
So, what do we know about Wuyang? Let's talk about the leaks, abilities, and the big picture of what this rebellious Water College scholar might bring to the game.
Wuyang 101: Who Is He, and Why Should You Care?
Wuyang is a student from Wuxing University’s Water College, and he’s described as a rebellious scholar, which already gives him some solid anti-hero vibes, and he’s coming in with a high skill ceiling, much like Kiriko or Lifeweaver.
According to what we’ve seen so far, Wuyang will be Hero 44 and a Support character, which means he’ll be all about helping teammates while also making enemies wish they stayed out of the splash zone.
Leaked Wuyang Perks: What They Tell Us About His Playstyle
A reliable Overwatch leaker, Wiki_ow, recently spilled the details on Wuyang’s supposed Perks, giving us a look at how this new hero might function. Here’s what got leaked:
Wuyang’s Perks (Leaked):
Overflow – Restores resources (possibly charges or ammo).
Ebb and Flow – Rewinds the Guardian Wave ability (sounds like a cooldown reset or partial recharge).
Balance – Boosts healing after Wuyang deals damage.
Falling Rain – Allows control of three water orbs, probably his primary fire.
These perks hint at a pretty dynamic resource management system, something we haven’t seen in Overwatch 2 to this degree. You’ll likely be juggling water orbs for offense while keeping an eye on your healing energy, all while dashing around with what looks like a water-based mobility skill.
Leaked Abilities: Let’s Break It Down
While Blizzard hasn’t officially confirmed Wuyang’s abilities just yet, here’s what the leaks are suggesting:
Primary Fire – Controllable Water Orbs
Think floating projectiles you can maybe guide or control, and they explode on impact to deal AoE damage. The leak also mentions 10 ammo, so this likely isn’t unlimited spam. Accuracy and timing could be key.
Alt Fire – Restorative Stream
This is probably the healing part of his kit. It’s speculated to use a separate resource pool and has a passive healing element, maybe like Lifeweaver’s Blossom healing over time. You should expect to switch between offense and healing often.
Rushing Torrent – Mobility Skill
Described as similar to Kiriko’s Swift Step or Lifeweaver’s Dash, this could be a short-range burst that helps you reposition, escape, or dive into action quickly.
Guardian Wave – Ultimate Ability?
This one’s more mysterious but sounds more like a trajectory based damage skill, possibly sending a wave of water that damages enemies in its path. The name Guardian hints at some defensive potential too.
How Wuyang Will Shake Up the Meta
If Wuyang’s leaks are accurate, this hero is going to require a lot of brainpower. You’ll need to manage ammo, healing charges, positioning, and ability cooldowns all at once. It’s likely he’ll appeal to high-skill support mains, the type of players who love micromanaging resources and flexing their game sense.
He also introduces orb-based utility, which could mean area control and burst combos. Imagine holding choke points with water orb explosions or peeking corners with Rushing Torrent for a fast flank.
Given that Season 17 disabled Midtown due to bugs, expect Wuyang to debut on a refreshed map pool which might also favor his high-mobility kit.
When Can You Try Wuyang?
The good news is that Wuyang’s trial period is scheduled for August 14–18, just over a week before his full release. That means players can get hands-on early and help Blizzard fine-tune the hero before he hits the ranked ladder. Expect a full kit reveal and gameplay showcase around that time.
It’s been a while since Overwatch 2 introduced a hero with this much mystery and potential complexity. If you’re into technical supports with unique mechanics, Wuyang might become your new favorite!
