9-nine- is a supernatural mystery told through four interconnected chapters, each in the same city but with alternate heroines. The heroine, Kakeru Niimi, gradually discovers the town's concealed powers and its unsettling secrets. The series takes place in Shiromitsugawa, an apparently ordinary college town that in the past tried to increase tourism by way of a failed anime project based on local myths. After a holy relic gets destroyed at the town shrine, Kakeru and a few others wake up to mysterious powers. A countdown to prevent a lethal superhuman menace follows.

The anime brings back the game's original voice cast:

  • Atsushi Abe as Kakeru Niimi

  • Atsumi Tanezaki as Sora Niimi
  • Yuri Yamaoka as Haruka Kosaka
  • Akane Fujita as Noa Yuuki
  • Kazutomi Yamamoto as Yoichi Fukazawa
  • Tomokazu Sugita as Renya Takamine
  • Hana Takeda as Satsuki Naruse
  • Satomi Arai as Sophitia

Koichi Ohata is directing the series. Character design is done by Saori Sakiguchi, with animation handled by PRA.
