Edgerunners 2 Is Official : Studio Trigger Confirms Sequel at Anime Expo 2025
Studio Trigger announces Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, a 10-episode anime with new direction and plot, continuing the legacy of Cyberpunk 2077 on Netflix

At Anime Expo on Friday, Studio Trigger officially announced that "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2" is on the way. They told it during their panel, and also they showed this new promo art. That was made by Ichigo Kanno, who worked on the first anime too.
This time, Kai Ikarashi will be directing. It’s his first time as full director, even though he already did storyboards and props and other stuff in season one. Bartosz Sztybor is back again, both writing and producing, like before. And Kanno, who also helped animate and direct scenes in the last one, is now doing all the main character designs. Masahiko Otsuka’s back as scriptwriter again, so a lot of the same team is staying on.

Fresh Story, Darker Themes, Same Night City
This one’s not a direct sequel though. It will be a new 10-episode story set in the same Cyberpunk 2077 world. But this time, David and Lucy won’t be in it. This one’s about something else—redemption, revenge, that kind of darker stuff. It’s still full of those intense emotions and the over-the-top future world, but feels like it’ll say something new too. They said something like, “When people only care about big flashy things, how far do you go to make your story real?” That kind of idea.
They showed a teaser, but only to people in the room. Everyone else has to wait. Netflix will stream the new season, just like the first one. That’s confirmed.

And also, Cyberpunk fans still have more to chew on. There’s a prequel manga called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness which already came out online last December. It’s being made by Asano and Sztybor, and will be available in seven different languages. Dark Horse is putting out the English print version.
So yeah, even if it’s not a direct follow-up, Edgerunners 2 looks like it’ll bring a fresh kind of chaos to Night City again. Sounds like it’s going to be wild.
