From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 Announced for 2026
An unexpected journey resumes as a humble swordsman's past begins to shape a future filled with powerful reunions, mysterious roles, and untold challenges

After Season 1 ended, it was confirmed that From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman will return in 2026. The announcement came with a short teaser video, which gave fans a small taste of what might come next. The anime is being streamed only on Prime Video, and it’s made by Passione along with Hayabusa Film.
The main guy, Beryl Gardinant, always says he’s just some old man from the countryside. He teaches sword skills at his small dojo in a quiet village, where nothing much happens. But one day, his past came knocking. A former student visits him — this student is now someone really important — and Beryl ends up getting picked as a special teacher for the elite knights of the Liberion Order.
From there, things change for Beryl. He meets other people who used to train under him. A top knight, a strong wizard, and a famous adventurer all show up. They all got big titles now, but they still look at him like their teacher. It’s kind of funny because Beryl doesn’t even understand why they still look up to him so much. He just thought he was doing normal teaching.
Team Behind the Scenes
Season one had Yoshio Kazumi as director. The series composition was handled by Kunihiko Okada. Characters were designed by Satsuki Hayasaka, who also worked as the chief animation director. The music, which added a lot of feeling to scenes, was composed by Yasuharu Takanashi.
Voice actor Hiroaki Hirata played Beryl. He was also the one who told everyone about Season 2 during a special video. Other cast includes Yuki Hirose (Curuni), Hitomi Ueda (Surena), Nao Toyama (Allucia), and Hinaki Yano (Ficelle). Their voices gave the characters depth even when scenes were simple.
The story was first written by Shigeru Sagazaki. It started on a site where users post stories, back in 2020. After a while, Square Enix started publishing the novels officially under their label in 2021. The book has art by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. There’s also a manga by Kazuki Sato, which is still running. English fans can read the light novel from J-Novel Club and the manga from Yen Press.
With Season 2 aiming for 2026, fans have something to wait for. Beryl’s journey from quiet village life to training some of the strongest people isn’t over yet. As more secrets from his past come out, and his students keep pulling him into new trouble, it looks like the story will get even bigger. So if you liked how things started, Season 2 might bring even more action, emotions, and unexpected turns.
