Junji Ito’s Crimson Horror Anime Is Coming: Plot, Release, and What to Expect
Junji Ito: Crimson anime announced at Japan Expo 2025, will stream on Crunchyroll worldwide.

There's another horror anime coming out. This one is from Junji Ito's manga once more. Its title is Junji Ito: Crimson. They mentioned it at Japan Expo 2025. It's going to stream on Crunchyroll, but they haven't announced the day when it's coming out yet.
Singer Yumi Matsutoya is performing the opening, titled "Karasuageha." That's a pretty big deal—a well-known horror creator and a highly regarded singer in one piece. But they haven't announced yet who will be voicing the characters or who will be directing. That remains to be seen.
Ito's Anime Keep Going Year by Year
Junji Ito already had other anime adaptations based on his manga. There was a Junji Ito Collection in 2018. Then Junji Ito Maniac in 2023. And also Uzumaki, which was recently released in 2024.
Crunchyroll already had those, and now this new one will come too. So non-Japanese fans can also watch when released.
New Series May Mirror Previous Style
Few details are released yet, but most anticipate that this anime will be just like the original ones. That is, each episode is a different scary story. They're not long, short though. This is what Junji Ito's stories typically are.
Perhaps characters such as Tomie, Soichi, or Fuchi appear in it. But that is not confirmed. It is merely what the fans are speculating. Fans wish they would return.
Most likely, the animation will once more feature bizarre visuals, unsettling pacing, and unsettling designs. That is the kind of horror viewers seek in his series. Not loud frights—just the sort that lingers in your thoughts, cold and slow.
Until now, Junji Ito: Crimson appears not to be deviating from what we have known so far. But perhaps with fresh juice added from the starting theme. What else is new? We still don't know.
