The second season of Kaiju No. 8 it’s almost ready, and a fresh trailer has been out. This trailer, they called it “Ishi no Keisho” (Succession of the Will), giving a preview of what is coming. The ending song inside is “Beautiful Colors” by OneRepublic, who had done songs for this anime already two times before.
It is the third time now that OneRepublic is doing a track for Kaiju No. 8. First, it was “Nobody” in the first season, and then came “Invincible” for a special episode. This time, they say this new one has a different feel, not the same as before, but still strong.
“This song is not like ‘Nobody’, but we made it with feelings. If before we jumped with joy, now maybe we cry together,” they said.
Veteran Actress Joins as Special Role in Kaiju No. 8 Season 2
What's also confirmed is that Kotono Mitsuishi, a voice actress who did Sailor Moon and Evangelion, will also join the cast now. She’s giving voice to Hikari Shinomiya, mother of Kikoru. The actress mentioned how this role needs both strength and softness.
“She’s an officer and also a caring mom. I tried to show her in a graceful and alive way, even if she does not appear so much,” she explained.
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Release Date
The first season was released in spring 2024. The release date for Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 is now set for July 19, 2025. The makers remain the same: Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya are directing, Ichiro Okouchi is handling the series script, and Tetsuya Nishio is handling the character style. Yuta Bando is providing the music again. All of this is based on the manga by Naoya Matsumoto and animated by Production I.G.
If you want to catch up with the first season, then Crunchyroll is still streaming the first part with different subtitles and dubs. The story follows Kafka Hibino, who once promised Mina Ashiro to join the Defense Force. However, life later took them apart. Then Kafka meets Reno Ichikawa, and after that, his old goal comes back, so he decides to fight Kaiju to protect people once again.
