Kyoto Animation Drops New CITY Trailer Before July Air Date
Kyoto Animation unveils new teaser for CITY THE ANIMATION, premiering July 6.

Kyoto Animation currently shares a new 30-second teaser for CITY THE ANIMATION, which premieres on July 6. The teaser is brief, but it reveals a good amount of the bizarre city life and the character's humorous antics. The anime is based on the manga CITY by Keiichi Arawi, who also created Nichijou.
Team Behind The Show and Voice Cast
Taichi Ishidate is directing. Tamami Tokuyama is handling character design and the main animation aspect. Other members include Kana Miyata with color, Shiori Yamazaki with background, and Hiroki Ueda handling the camera aspect. Tatsunori Kase and Yota Tsuruoka are also in for CG and sound.
Lots of voice actors come on board, as well. Mikako Komatsu is Midori Nagumo, Aki Toyosaki is Nikura, and Yui Ishikawa performs Wako Izumi. Takehito Koyasu, Coco Hayashi, and a few other names join in to flesh out the odd city full of lots of different sorts of folks.
Story of One Girl and Her Troubles in the City
This anime is about Midori, who is a student with no money and much distress. Her landlady is demanding rent, her friend won't give a loan, and she doesn't wish to do the job. The manga was initially serialized from 2016 to 2021 and then came back briefly in 2024. Her life is filled with strange neighbors, and that causes madness when brought to a normally appearing location.
It's the first time in six years that Kyoto Animation has produced a new adaptation. The studio was already renowned for powerful art and heartwarming stories. Now they move further into comedy with CITY. With its quick jokes and wacky city atmosphere, the show attempts to bring something playful but also heartwarming, revealing how even bizarre days can be filled with life.
