Luffy Being More Harsh Make One Piece Feel Very Different From Naruto and Bleach
Luffy’s darker side sets One Piece apart from Naruto and Bleach in a bold new way.

Within the world of shonen anime, there are always those three most well-known—One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach. Each of them has extremely powerful characters in the starring role. Naruto is a nice individual, always attempting to comprehend and assist. Ichigo battles because he has to defend the individuals he cares about. But then there is Luffy—he's happy and goofy, but there's something less pleasant beneath.
Naruto and Ichigo do not tend to damage enemies that much; they attempt to forgive, perhaps even rescue. But Luffy does something different. He plunges deep. He does not merely win. He shatters something within the enemies. He shattered their hope, their motivation for fighting. And that is reflecting a dark side of him that most fans do not see enough.
When Dreams Break, Enemies Become Empty
In One Piece, a dream is not a dream. It's sort of soul. Oda created this world where dreams provide power, courage, and Haki. If you lose your dream, you become weak, not only in your body but also in your heart. You can see Gecko Moria, for instance. He was powerful earlier, even fighting Kaido. But once he lost the battle, he lost the objective. Then he concealed himself in Thriller Bark, growing weaker, until Luffy defeated him prior to the time skip.
This indicates that dreams do count. And what Luffy does is not merely fight the enemies. He ensures that their dreams come to an end. Such as Crocodile, he wanted to govern Alabasta. Luffy puts an end to that. Enel wished to be a god, but Luffy took him down from the sky. Doflamingo dictating Dressrosa, Kaido dictating Wano—Luffy halts all of them, but not merely the combat. He abolishes what they believe.
They are bad dreams, but even so, Luffy goes too far. He doesn't simply stop them—he wipes them away.
Other Heroes Don't Go That Far
Naruto and Ichigo are not the same. They hurt, they battle, yes—but they do not take meaning from enemies' lives. Naruto always discusses feelings, pain, and attempts to rescue. Even his foe turns out to be a friend, such as Gaara or Nagato. He speaks more than he battles at times. But that is superior to depriving someone of their dream permanently.
Ichigo also does not kill unless extremely necessary. As a Soul Reaper, he prefers balance. Unless the person is like Aizen or an extremely big threat, Ichigo doesn't choose destruction. Grimmjow is alive after the battle. Ichigo, oh, don't destroy people's reason for existing.
So, if you examine closely, Luffy is doing something much more brutal. He is not bad, but he does not offer a second chance if a dream opposes him.
The Smile Conceals Something Greater
Luffy is always pretending to be cheerful, consuming meat, and chuckling. However, when he's confronted by the foe, he doesn't pardon. He defends his group of friends, sure, but above all, he defends liberty, even if that involves demolishing someone else's life ambition. That's not something like Naruto or Ichigo, who possess a softer side.

Perhaps Oda is doing this intentionally, perhaps not. But now the fans can't help but notice that Luffy is not just a humorous boy on a quest. He had a darker method of being a hero. This is what sets One Piece apart from the other two large anime series.
