The narrative focuses on Tōji, a 20-year-old man who gains sudden recognition after an unspecified event. The attention prompts him to seek out jobs that keep him under the radar and away from large crowds. While working part-time at a supermarket, he assists a customer, leading to an unexpected encounter with a girl named Sakuya. Tōji soon discovers that Sakuya possesses a unique cognitive ability called “Super Eye,” which gives her exceptional memory and recall skills. Despite this gift, she struggles to find her place in school. Both feeling disconnected from society, Tōji and Sakuya eventually begin living together under one roof, forming a connection born from shared isolation.

A Prolific Creator’s Expanding Legacy

Naru Narumi first gained widespread attention with Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san (Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles), which debuted in 2013 in Manga Life Storia. After the magazine ceased publication, the series moved to the Storia Dash digital platform. The manga inspired an anime adaptation in 2018, streamed by Crunchyroll, and a live-action television series beginning in 2015. The live-action adaptation expanded with several specials and a second season in 2020.

Narumi also authored Watari-kun’s ****** Is About to Collapse, originally serialized in Young Ace in 2014 before transitioning to Monthly Young Magazine in 2015. The series ended in September 2023, and the last volume came out in November. An anime version of the manga is planned to air in July.

Continued Creativity and New Themes

With Stray Dog and Angel, Narumi explores themes of alienation, memory, and unexpected companionship. The upcoming series reflects her continued interest in characters who live on the edges of society, offering readers another emotionally layered and introspective story.
