This summer brings more than just heat, something eerie is stirring. ‘The Summer Hikaru Died’, the anime adaptation of Mokumokuren’s popular manga is set to make its debut with Episode 1 on July 4, 2025, at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.  

What is The Summer Hikaru Died About?

The anime marks the first glimpse into the adaptation of the manga that has captivated readers with its blend of emotional depth and suspense. The story starts by centering itself around two childhood friends — Yoshiki and Hikaru. After a tragic accident, Hikaru returns... but something is off. Yea, when I said suspense, I meant it.

Hikaru looks the same. He acts the same. But something’s not right and Yoshiki just can’t shake the feeling that something’s changed. What begins as a tale of friendship gradually unfolds into a gripping slow- burn mystery that leaves you on edge. So, will you find yourself watching it? Or will you go read the manga right now?
