League of Legends at EWC 2025: Schedule, Teams, and All You Need to Know

The Esports World Cup 2025 is in full swing as we have already entered into the second week of this mega event, after the action-packed first week, where we have seen titles such as Apex Legends and VALORANT Esports take center stage. The lineup for the second week is also exciting, and everyone's eye is on League of Legends Esports, which is scheduled to take place from July 16 to July 20. Announced earlier this year, League of Legends was officially added to the EWC lineup and will feature $2 million prize pool in total.

League of Legends at EWC 2025: Participating Teams

In total, 12 teams are going to participate in this event. Eight teams have been placed in the Group Stage, which had relatively poor performance at MSI. On the other hand, top-seeded teams have been placed in the Playoff stage.

League of Legends at EWC 2025: Format Explained

As mentioned earlier, the League of Legends event at EWC 25 is divided into two key stages: the Group Stage and the Playoffs, each designed to test different skills and strategies from participating teams.

Group Stage (July 16–17)

As explained, this stage will feature a total of 8 teams in contention. These teams are divided into two GSL-style groups, and the tournament will follow a double-elimination format. Each group contains 4 teams, and matches will take place in a Bo1 format. If any team loses here, they will get one more chance through the lower bracket, where every match will be an elimination. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Playoffs

Group Stage (July 18–20)

The Playoffs will feature the top four teams from the Group Stage going up against four high-seeded teams who directly qualified through MSI 2025 and their regional performances. The format here is a straight single-elimination bracket, which means teams will have only one shot to lose once, and they're out of the tournament.

All matches in this stage will be played in a Best-of-Three (Bo3) format, except for the Grand Final, which will follow a Best-of-Five (Bo5) format. This final match will decide the ultimate champion of EWC 25.

All matches at EWC 25 are being played on Patch 25.13.  Fans can expect to see some surprise picks and off-meta bans as teams will try to stay one step ahead of their opponent.
