Marvel Rivals July 17 Patch Notes Bring Summer Event, New Skins, and Key Fixes
Marvel Rivals' July 17 update adds a Summer Special Event, beach-themed skins for Thor, Loki & more, plus hero fixes and gameplay improvements.

After several days of anticipation, the patch notes on the Marvel Rivals July 17 update are finally announced, and it managed to pack quite a lot into it. This time NetEase introduced quite a number of changes, and they were rather big, as new cosmetics, fixes, and improvements all came by the time Season 3 started. There is an entire summer theme to the update, but the update is not just about how the game looks, as gameplay was changed as well.
Summer Special Event Gets Going
The Summer Special Event is going to run from July 17 through August 15. Players will be able to get free rewards just by playing matches and leveling up in the event. One of the standout things here is Thor’s Worthy Waves skin, which you get in the free path. But if you’re up for grabbing the Premium Pass, you’ll unlock more stuff like Sunshine Thing for The Thing and Luna Snow’s Cool Summer costume. Everything has a beachy, vacation-type of vibe going on.
New Store Items and Bundles Available
There are going to be new store bundles starting July 18. Two major ones include:
-
Loki – Robe of Relaxation
-
Psylocke – Breezy Butterfly
These come with more than just skins; they've got voice lines, kill effects, and some extra visuals too. There are also six new color options, like Tidal Trickery and Prismatic Pulse, to switch things up. Luna Snow and Psylocke also got new visuals for their ultimates to match their updated looks.
Gameplay Updates and Changes
A few important system changes also came with this patch. Players now can earn Accessory Points even when playing Practice VS. AI mode, which helps make progress a bit easier. Controller setups had problems before, but now keybinding conflicts have been sorted out.
Hero Fixes and Balance Tweaks
Some heroes got bug fixes too. Monster Hulk had an issue where his ultimate messed up if you used it through a portal; that’s fixed. Magneto’s shield wasn’t blocking Cloak’s ability like it should, but now it does.
Other minor bugs were also removed, such as objects floating, spawn area bugs, and map clipping issues that annoyed gameplay in the past.
So, this patch does add some new skins, a cool theme-based event, and other handy fixes, which makes Marvel Rivals more refined entering Season 3. There is something to look at whether you simply want cool costumes or even smoother fights.
