The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 as a powerful gaming laptop, has already carved a niche for itself, after its 2020 launch. Two years in, and several models later, ASUS has now announced the launch of the ROG Strix Scar 17 Special Edition for the Indian market. Though the laptops start at Rs 3.6 lacs, it is not only the most powerful of launches from Asus but is also supposed to be one of the fastest gaming laptops in the world. If you check the specifications, you will figure out why that is. So, here’s the complete list of specs as well as the top features of the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17.

Top Features of the ROG Strix Scar 17

Top Tier Performance

At the moment, there are two models available for the Special Edition Scar 17. The low-end model is powered by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti series GPUs. The high-end variant features the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti series GPU. They reach maximum TGPs of 150W and 175W respectively, with Dynamic Boost. Working along with these, we have Intel’s 12th Gen i9-12950 HX processors. This combination of processors is supported by a 32GB DDR5 RAM that expands up to 64GB. This setup has a seriously high capacity for some powerful performance, given that these are some of the top-end combinations possible in the market right now.

Display

As evident from the title, the Strix Scar 17 features a 17-inch screen (17.3 inch to be exact), with an aspect ratio of 16:9. The refresh rates it supports in QHD and FHD go as high up as 240 Hz and 360 Hz respectively. Add to this its response time of 3ms only, and for now we can only imagine the minute preciseness of clarity in the picture. NVIDIA DLSS and Ray Tracing technologies further work in boosting the graphics, especially tending to the needs of gamers. The Strix Scar 17 SE is also Adaptive-Sync and Dolby Vision HDR certified, assuring quality gaming as well as viewing experience.

Sound

The laptop comes equipped with 4 Dolby Atmos powered speakers, for some ‘Hi-Res’ audio feedback. They are arranged in a 5.1.2 channel, for the illusion of virtual surround sound. Additionally, smart technologies like Two Way AI Noise Cancellation ensure crystal clear sound, for both, input as well as output audio.

Cooling System

It is important for a separate mention of the cooling system, because it is a factor that needs to be considered for high-energy consuming activities like gaming. The Strix Scar 17 also features the trademark Intelligent Cooling Technology of ROG. Asus claims that it “allows critical components like the CPU and GPU to maintain higher boost frequencies for longer periods of time, keeping your framerate smooth and steady even during extended gaming sessions.” However, the brownie points go to the “0 dB Ambient Cooling Technology”. Strix Scar 17 SE’s noise levels reportedly do not exceed 40 dB even in Performance mode.

Design

Apart from the standard per-key RGB lighting on the keyboard, the laptop’s overall design too purely caters to the cool, sporty, and quirky tastes of gamers. A cypher in special invisible ink dons the lid of the laptop. The cryptic message can only be exposed with the UV flashlight included with the box the device comes in. There are also the classic ROG customizable Armor caps that come with the laptop.
