Hasbro makes changes to Community Chest Cards in Monopoly; announces a new challenge

Global board-game creator and entertainment giant Hasbro has just some new information around its flagship game property Monopoly. As part of the announcement, the company shared some crucial changes to the “Community Chest Cards” element in the game. Hasbro stated that it is the first time it is changing the Chest Cards in more than 85 years. In addition, the company also announced a new “Community Chest Challenge” for players across the country. As part of the challenge, the company has teamed up with NGOs like “Save the Children”. Hasbro announces “Community Chest Challenge”; details

According to the official announcement, Hasbro is asking its fans to determine the next 16 Community Chest Cards. Monopoly players across the globe can head to the new Community Chest website to select the 16 new cards. Hasbro has focused on topics including beauty contexts, life insurance, holiday funds, and more in the past. With the voting process, the company wants to understand what the word “community” comprises in the real world. Some of the new cards include “Shop Local”, “Helping Your Neighbors”, and even “Rescue A Puppy”.

Bhavesh Somaya, the General Manager of the South Asia region at Hasbro also issued a statement. Somaya stated, “The world has embraced a new sense of community and so have we. Our fans are passionate about Monopoly, and we are excited to get their inputs on the new Community Chest Cards. This is a significant step in bringing fans closer to the brand and in capturing this renewed community spirit through toy donations in India.”

As mentioned above, the company has also teamed up with “Saving the Children” NGO and more as part of the challenge. Hasbro will donate one toy for each vote that it receives in the challenge. The company will ensure that it will maintain “a variety of toys and games” in the donation worth “up to”  Rs. 30 Lakh. In addition to “Saving the Children”, Hasbro has also teamed with other “select” NGOs for the challenge.

The Director for Campaigns and Communication at Save the Children India, Madhura Kapdi also shared a statement. Kapdi added, “Play encourages imagination, curiosity, and exploration of solutions in a child. The right to play is a must for the overall growth and development of every child.”
