Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Main Trailer Reveals New Song by AURORA and Cast Members
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 brings new characters, a theme song by AURORA, and global streaming as the action-packed anime returns on July 19

The trailer for Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 has yet come out, and people are already talking about it a lot. The video, which is called “Rising Threat”, gives us a sneak peek into what's coming next. The theme song is called “You Can’t Run From Yourself”, and it’s sung by AURORA, a singer from Norway. The song feels kind of deep and dreamy, and it suits the show pretty nicely.
Two more characters are coming this season. One is Eiji Hasegawa, voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto, and the other is Rin Shinonome, played by Kana Hanazawa. These two are from the Defense Force, and they’ll probably be important later. It’s gonna make the story feel more serious, maybe, since now higher-up officers are getting involved.
Same Animation Team Returns in Kaiju No. 8 Season 2
Production I.G is doing the animation again. Also, Studio Khara will do all the monster looks, just like before. So, visually it’s gonna look almost the same, maybe even better. Directors Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya are still here, and the script is still being written by Ichiro Okouchi. Characters are designed by Tetsuya Nishio, who did Naruto, and the music is again done by Yuta Bando.
In case people forgot, Kaiju No. 8 is about Kafka Hibino. He wanted to join the Defense Force but ended up cleaning a monster mess. Later, he meets Reno, and suddenly things change. Kafka gets the power to turn into a Kaiju himself, and then stuff becomes more wild.
Main actors returning:
- Masaya Fukunishi as Kafka
- Wataru Kato is Reno
- Asami Seto as Mina
- Kengo Kawanishi is Hoshina
- Tessho Genda plays Isao
- Koki Uchiyama is voicing Gen Narumi
This last guy, Gen, is like the most powerful anti-Kaiju fighter in Japan or something.
Streaming Plans is Global
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 is gonna be on Crunchyroll, just like last time. But this time, they also plan to stream it on X (which used to be Twitter). That’s not usual for anime, so maybe it gonna reach even more people. Crunchyroll says it's part of their Summer 2025 anime lineup.
The manga was started in July 2020 by Naoya Matsumoto, and 15 books are already out. But now, it will end soon, in just 2 more chapters. So people who follow the manga should get ready for the final moments. In English, Viz Media is still publishing it.
Also, they are making a game called Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, and it will be playable for the first time at Anime Expo 2025. Over 300,000 people have already registered, so clearly people want it. The game’s full release is expected later in the year.
Honestly, with good music, new people in the cast, and strong visuals returning, Season 2 of Kaiju No. 8 got all things lined up well. It’s got drama, fights, emotion, and huge monsters. This summer, anime fans will have something really big to enjoy.
