Live-Action Adaptation Announced for “Stay By My Side After the Rain”

BL manga *Stay By My Side After the Rain* gets a live-action series, premieres June 25.

TV Tokyo has revealed that Stay By My Side After the Rain, a boys' love manga by Shoko Rakuta, will receive a live-action adaptation. The series is set to premiere on the U-NEXT streaming platform on June 25 at 9:00 p.m. JST. It will also air on TV Tokyo and affiliated regional channels such as TV Osaka and TV Hokkaido starting July 2.

Masashi Ikeda, known for *A Man Who Defies the World of BL*, will play the lead role, Shinichirō Kanade.
Natsuki Hori from FANTASTICS (EXILE TRIBE) will co-star as Kōsuke Mashiro.
To mark the announcement, creator Shoko Rakuta shared a new illustration of the main characters.

The series will be directed by Nobuyoshi Yamada and Masafumi Asami, with scripts written by Satoko Okazaki. Music will be composed by Yuri Habuka.

A Second Chance at Love

The story centers around Kanade, a man weighed down by a dull office job and a closeted lifestyle. His monotonous world starts to brighten when he reconnects with Mashiro, a former classmate and secret crush. Their chance reunion offers Kanade an opportunity to explore the feelings he once kept hidden.

The live-action adaptation aims to capture the quiet emotional depth of the original manga, which blends themes of longing, reconnection, and personal growth.

Stay By My Side After the Rain was serialized on Ichijinsha and pixiv’s Comic POOL from August 2019 to August 2020. The manga concluded with two volumes, the last released in October 2020. Seven Seas Entertainment holds the English-language rights for the manga.

Rakuta is also known for I’m Looking for Serious Love, another boys’ love manga published by Tokyopop. It ran in LiQulle magazine from 2018 to 2019 and concluded in one volume.
