Netflix Confirms Solo Leveling Live-Action Series With Byeon Woo-seok in Lead Role

Netflix begins Solo Leveling live-action series with Byeon Woo-seok as Sung Jin-woo.

Netflix went and announced on July 8, 2025, that they had already begun making a live-action version of Solo Leveling. This show, what already super known in the webtoon and anime world, is now gonna show up with real actors. Byeon Woo-seok, who people know from Lovely Runner, he’s doing the role of Sung Jin-woo. That’s the guy who starts weak and ends up one of the strongest out there.

Fans have liked this story for a very long time. It even took home Crunchyroll's Anime of the Year. So Netflix, after seeing all that hype, finally decided to do it as live-action. They did not give us when it's arriving or much information, but they did tell us who gonna direct it. Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byung-seo will both collaborate to bring this to the screen. They are attempting to make it something great.

The Shadow Monarch

Solo Leveling

Byeon Woo-seok is doing the lead now, as Jin-woo. The man who starts out being fearful and not powerful ends up being the Shadow Monarch, a tall, powerful man. It's no small task for Byeon, as this character has a lot of different moods—he is weak, he is depressed, then he becomes cool and powerful. There are a lot of fans who believe that he can do it well because he has played serious roles before, too.

Everyone's waiting to see how he depicts that huge change on screen. It's not only action, it's also about depicting what Jin-woo feels within himself. If that scene doesn't feel good, perhaps the entire show doesn't work the way it's supposed to.

As soon as it was announced, everyone online began responding. Most were thrilled. Part of the reason is that Netflix has been performing well with this type of adaptation recently. Such as the One Piece live-action, it did not fumble. It was imperfect, but many praised it for keeping true to the story and being visually pleasing, too.

For this reason, Solo Leveling fans are hopeful now. Netflix isn't casting the wrong people; they are casting good directors, and they're not tampering too much with the original. If they continue like this, perhaps this show will be one of their greatest hits. They're just waiting now—wonder when it comes, and how they're gonna stage the fight scenes. In the meantime, fans are praying that Netflix won't alter the core of it and retain what made Jin-woo's history so popular.
