New Anime Alert: There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her Is Getting an Official Adaptation
A demon lord’s servant falls for a priest in this upcoming anime adaptation of There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her

Futabasha announced on Friday that 'Yūsha Party ni Kawaii Ko ga Itanode, Kokuhaku Shite Mita (There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her)' will be getting a TV anime. It started as a light novel by Suisei, but the anime is mainly based on the manga version by Kairi.
The cast already got revealed. Kōhei Amasaki plays Yōki, and Kana Hanazawa voices Cecilia. The main character Yōki, he got reborn into a fantasy world but not like usual. He wasn’t a hero, and not a demon lord either. He just ended up working for the demon lord. Then, one day the hero’s group attack the castle and Yōki has to fight them. But then he sees Cecilia, who is a priest in the hero party, and he falls in love right that second. Even though they are supposed to be enemies.
Strong Creative Team and Steady Source Material
The anime is being made at Gekkō. Yasutaka Yamamoto is the big boss on the directing, he has done Medalist and Servant × Service before. Actual direction is done by Tomonori Mine, he worked on Isekai Onsen Paradise. The scripts are being handled by Yukie Sugawara, who’s done some serious stuff like Overlord and No Guns Life. Mina Ōsawa is making the character art from the original La-na designs work for animation. The music is made by Satoru Kōsaki and MONACA. The producer is Ryō Aizawa from Starry Cube.

The original light novel started in 2013 on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō site (the one where anyone can post stories).The latest update was on June 12. The manga by Kairi started later, in 2021, on Futabasha’s Gaugau Monster website. The 12th manga volume will be out on July 30, so fans won’t have to wait much longer.
It’s not just a fantasy, but kind of a love story with battles and weird situations. Might not be the usual kind of isekai, but maybe that’s what make it work. Let’s see how this plays out.
