WIND BREAKER Movie Unveils First Teaser Trailer, Koshi Mizukami Stars as Lead Character

The official site for the WIND BREAKER live-action film just dropped a teaser trailer. It’s short, but it kind of gives the first real taste of what’s coming. Also, they showed visuals for the six main characters, too, and they all look pretty close to what fans probably imagined. The movie is going to be released in December 2025 across Japan.

Actor Koshi Mizukami, who’s 26, will play the lead guy, Haruka Sakura. He said this story feels like a new-age delinquent film. “Delinquent films are not the same as before,” he said, “I felt something nostalgic while filming, but also something fresh. I was pushing myself hard, together with Haruka, to go forward.” Sounds like he connected with the role.

Kentaro Hagiwara is directing the movie. He worked on other stuff before, like Tokyo Ghoul back in 2017 and Blue Period more recently in 2024. The script’s being written by Yosuke Masaike, who won a big award in 2023 for his screenplay on Anime Supremacy! So yeah, the team got some solid experience behind them.

The cast visuals also dropped alongside the teaser. Each one kinda shows off their vibe—strong, cool, a little wild. Not too flashy, but enough to give people something to look forward to.

From Manga to the Big Screen

The WIND BREAKER manga started out in January 2021 on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket, and it already has 22 volumes published. People got into the school setting and the whole fighting-for-respect angle. The anime version came out in 2024 and 2025, with two seasons. Both of them are up on Crunchyroll. It’s set in a school called Furin High, where students don’t exactly study; they mostly throw hands. Haruka Sakura’s the new guy in town, and he just wants to be the toughest.

Now with the movie coming up, they’re trying to mix that raw energy with something more updated. Like, it’s still a story about youth and struggle, but it’s got that modern edge. Between the powerful acting, experienced staff, and the already-loved source material, this film could hit hard if done right.

So yeah, if you’ve been following the manga or the anime, or even if you just like stories where fists talk louder than words, it might be one to watch this December.
