We are back with Day 2 of the Preliminaries of the Play Magnus Goldmoney Asian Rapid chess event. After an eventful first day, Day 2 will likely see the work cut for all 16 Chess Grandmasters and players. This means the top half of the standings will try to maintain their position with attempts to improve their performance. The bottom half of the table will try to make their way up to make their way to the Quarterfinals. Goldmoney Asian Rapid Preliminaries Day 2 details
As noted yesterday, Grandmasters Vidit Gujrathi, Adhiban Baskaran, Saleh Salem, Alireza Firouzja, Peter Svidler, and Hou Yifan will try their best to make their way to the top half of the table. In addition to these players, Arjun Erigaisi and Gukesh D will also try their best to take on their pairings to make their way to the third day of the tournament.
On the opposite end, Grandmasters Magnus Carlsen, Daniil Dubov, Vladislav Artemiev, Levon Aronian, and Daniil Dubov will compete to get the top spot. Carlsen would be keen to improve his performance on Day 2. We will also see Grandmasters Anish Giri, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, and Wesley So to try to push their way upwards from the middle of the table. The 9-day long seventh leg of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour is likely to get interesting as the competition moves towards the end of the Preliminary level.
