Niantic Labs, the company behind the popular smartphone VR game, Pokemon GO has just announced a new event. However, unlike any event in the past, this new challenge is directed at the Pokemon GO players in the Indian market. According to the announcement, the company is holding the India Wayfarer Challenge later this month to celebrate Holi. Niantic Labs stated that the event will take place on March 28 between 10 AM and 8 AM IST.
In addition, the company is also offering two T-shirts to Pokemon GO players across the globe. These new T-shirts are inspired by Holi, the festival of colors, and available for free in the in-game Shop. India Wayfarer Challenge announced for Pokemon GO players; details
As part of the event, players will be able to attract Pokemon that represent different colors of Holi, more frequently with the help of Incense. The announcement also listed a number of Pokemon that represent these colors. This list includes Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Alolan Grimer, Seel, Marill, Sunkern, Murkrow, Slugma, Aron, Trapinch, and Drifloon. Pokemon GO also shared information about timed research tasks that players can take part in during the event. Some of the rewards from these tasks include different types of Poke Balls, berries, Dragon Scale, Sun Stone, and Sinnoh Stone. Talking about the India Wayfarer Challenge, Pokemon GO players in India or the ones “who review Indian Wayspots” can take part in this event. For some context, Wayspots are interesting, publically accessible spots in the real world that players can add to the game. The announcement post reiterated that players do need to review the Wayspot nominations in the country. As part of this process, players “can unlock different tiers of rewards” based on the number wayspots they get approved during the duration of the challenge. Pokemon GO will activate all these rewards on March 28, 2021. The company has divided the rewards into three different tiers. First-tier needs at least 3000 new wayspots approved, the second needs more than 5000, and the third needs more than 8000.
