Touring After the Apocalypse will be airing in October 2025. The announcement wasn’t just about the date though, because they also showed a trailer and a teaser image. More stuff also got revealed, like who’s working on it and who’s gonna be in the cast. Studio Nexus are animating it. Aniplex also involved in production.
The story follows two girls, Yoko and Airi, who are driving through Japan after something bad happened. No one says exactly what went wrong, but now the city is empty and the world kinda ended. But instead of being sad, they go on a trip. They stop at places like Tokyo Big Sight and Hakone’s hot springs. It’s not like usual tourism though, because everything’s abandoned and quiet. Still, the two girls seem like they’re enjoying it in their own peaceful way.
Voices and the team working behind
Konomi Inagaki is voicing Yoko and Airi is played by Miyu Tomita. You can also see them both in the first teaser image that got released recently. The visual shows them standing with bikes, with a kind of calm expression, maybe a little lonely too. The tone of the show might be soft but also have sadness. Or even warm moments.
Studio Nexus is doing animation job. They already known for doing good visuals. And because Aniplex is involved, people maybe expecting high quality production. Trailer is out now, and it does show a lot about the kind of story this anime might tell.
The anime is from a manga by Sakae Saito. He started the series back in 2020, in Dengeki Maoh magazine. Up to March 2025, seven volumes have come out. Yen Press is releasing the English version, so people outside Japan can read it too.
As October gets closer, more fans probably will start paying attention. The story is not loud or flashy, but quiet in a kind of nice way. Yoko and Airi just ride through what’s left of everything. Maybe it’s sad, maybe it’s hopeful. But they’re still moving.
